My father was a refrigeration and air conditioning entrepreneur; my independence stems from him. My faith stems from my mother who was a factory worker but wanted to be a nurse. After highschool I worked an office job and attended Virginia Western Community College then Virginia Commonwealth University where I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. In 2001, I received my Master of Fine Art Degree from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
I have a humanist-heart and exist in a consumption and technologically driven world, thus my art reflects a strong sense of juxtapositions, dichotomy, and a fanciful use of found materials. Through an "add" and "subtract" method I use technologically created objects and materials to create my art. Never do I ask my objects to define themselves, humans made them thus they should need no introduction. Rather, I accept & celebrate that the object "IS" then intimately engage it and it’s idiosyncrasies to creates an enlighten art piece with a sense of
lyrical...material...MADNESS!
That is FAMOSSART.
